Andrew G. "Andy? Fredricks, 70, of Hiawatha, formerly of Marion, died Monday, April 7, 2003, in VA Medical Center in Iowa City, following a long illness. Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Tim Carter, with military rites by Marion American Legion Post 298. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time on Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Surviving are his wife of nearly fifty years, Rosalynne; a daughter, Donnette (Joe) Hutchins of Marion; and a son, Daniel (Nancy) Nickerson Sr. of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his favorite feline friend, Batchie. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Caroline and June and a son, David Fredricks.
He was born on November 8, 1932, in Clear Lake, Iowa, to Benjamin and Margaret Nielsen Fredricks. Andy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On January 25, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake, he was united in marriage to Rosalynne Martin. Andy was an auto mechanic for a variety of different dealerships in the area for over thirty years.
