Alvin "Al? Russ, 62, of Delhi, Iowa, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 in Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31 at St. John?s Catholic Church in Delhi, with Rev. John R. Kremer officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. There will also be visitation for an hour before the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. John?s Catholic Cemetery, Delhi.
Al was born the son of John Russ and Margaret (Lahr) Russ-Oehler on September 28, 1941 in Monticello. He graduated in 1959 from the Delhi Consolidated School. Al studied welding at Lincoln Electric in Cleveland, OH and worked for Bradco, now known as ATI, in Delhi. On October 5, 1963 Al was united in marriage to Janice A. Wegmann at St. Joseph?s Catholic Church in Greeley. The couple lived in Manchester for a time before moving to Delhi.
Al enjoyed playing cards, fishing and working on his 1957 Ford.
Al is survived by his wife, Janice Russ of Delhi; four children, Scott (Kim) Russ of The Woodlands, TX, Lisa (Dale) Limkemann of Cedar Rapids, Michelle Russ of Delhi and Renee (John) Rathjen of Swisher; six grandchildren, Nathan & Kassandra Russ, Cole & Ryan Limkemann and Megan & Elise Rathjen; two brothers, John (Shirley) Russ of Monticello and Bill (Marcia) Russ of Delhi; two sisters, Margaret O?Connell of Delhi and Joanne (Marvin) Marsh of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret & John Russ; and a brother-in-law, Frank O?Connell, Sr.
