Alvin L. Boots, Sr., 66, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002, in the care center, following a long illness. Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2002, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Rick Gail. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Alvin (DeAnne) Boots, Jr. of Hiawatha, William (Ginny) Boots of Kansas, Paul (Lorraine) Boots of Cedar Rapids, Dixie (Robert) Thornton of Cedar Rapids and Susan (Wayne) Novak of Independence; three sisters, Ada Meeks of Madison, Missouri, Dorothy (Ed) Wolfe of Tipton, Iowa, and Karen Dains of Marion; a brother, Herbert (Sandy) Boots of Vinton; and many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul and LeRoy; two sisters, Virginia and Lorella; and a great-granddaughter, Shaunet.
Alvin was born February 18, 1936, the son of Herbert and Helen (Goss) Boots, in Hopkinton, Iowa. On August 15, 1954, he married Virginia "Ginger? White in Cedar Rapids. They later divorced. Alvin was a car mechanic and loved to fish, hunt and listen to country western music. He will be missed by his family and friends.
