Aloyious “Allie” A. Boeckenstedt, 76, of Greeley died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home in Edgewood, following a brief illness.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Edgewood by Rev. Stephen Lundgren. Family will greet friends from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Burial with military honors will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Greeley.

Allie was born December 11, 1932 in Petersburg, the son of Elmer and Josephine (Lansing) Boeckenstedt. He attended school in New Vienna and farmed with his father until entering the service. Allie served with the United States Army at Ft. Bragg, N.C. from June 1953 - May 1955 On October 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marie Friedman at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Luxemburg. Following discharge from the service, the couple settled in the Greeley area. Allie worked for R. W. Paul, Greeley Case Implement, Carlson Road Construction of Decorah, the Greeley Feed Mill and Dubuque Packing buying station in Greeley.

Allie was a past member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greeley and currently a member of the St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Edgewood. He was active in the Greeley community serving on the Greeley Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 25 yrs, Greeley City Council, the Greeley Commercial Club, St. Joseph’s Parish Council, and worked part-time for the city of Greeley. He loved to hunt and fish.

Allie is survived by his six children and spouses; Bradley Boeckenstedt of Melvern, KS, Deborah & Michael Hunt of Greeley, Russell & Sharon Boeckenstedt, Pamela & Ronald Klein, Mitchell & Mary Boeckenstedt, all of Manchester, and Amy Boeckenstedt of Garnavillo; six siblings, Leon Boeckenstedt, Merle (Judy) Boeckenstedt both of Manchester; Elaine (LeRoy) Mullis of Earlville, Agnes (Bob) Wegmann, Alice (Ray) Tegeler both of Edgewood, and Jane (Win) Thomas of West Lebanon, IN; one brother-in-law, Don Moorman of Manchester; twenty grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Allie was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Josephine Boeckenstedt; his wife, Marie Boeckenstedt in November 2000; a daughter-in-law, Bambi Boeckenstedt; great-granddaughter, Chloe Marie Carter; a brother, Elmer “Bud” Boeckenstedt, Jr; two sisters, Mary Moorman and Gladys Boeckenstedt; and one sister-in-law, Wilma Boeckenstedt.
