Alma Alberta "Bertie? Rodies, 90, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, died March 7, 2007, at the Papillion Manor, Papillion, Nebraska following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Manchester by Pastor Danny Durocher. Friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.

Alma Alberta "Bertie? was born the daughter of Earl William and Rose Ethel (Freeze) Wolfe on July 21, 1916 in rural Dubuque County. She attended school in rural Delaware County. On March 4, 1942 Bertie was united in marriage to Wayne E. Rodies in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple lived in Manchester after Wayne returned from World War II in 1945. Bertie worked at the former Manchester Veneer Plant and Plastic Company. She enjoyed many years of childcare following retirement.

Bertie attended the First Baptist Church in Manchester.

Bertie is survived by two daughters, Sheila G. (Ken) Melhus of Papillion, NE and Sheryl R. (Howard) Schiffer of Marion; four grandchildren, Kendra (Bobby) Malik of Omaha, NE, Michael (Abbey) Melhus of Lavista, NE, Ryan (Chris Brink) Schiffer of Cedar Rapids and Cody Schiffer of Waukee; and a great-granddaughter, Annika Melhus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Rose Wolfe; her husband, Wayne Rodies in 1996; two sisters, Emma Mae Davis and Alice Viola Robinson; and one brother, LaVerne William Wolfe.
