Alma Dorothy Davin, 92, of Marion, formerly of Delhi, passed away Thursday, October 23, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Davin of Shellsburg, Pamela (Thomas) Pease of Lamoni, and Michelle (Randy Ackman) Davin of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Caroline Rustand, Michael Davin, Katherine Loes, Kristy Pease, Scott Pease, and Joshua, Bailey, and Samuel Ackman; four great-grandchildren, Owen, Hudson, Ella, and Collin; four sisters, Berniece Koelker, Doris Funke, Ruth Hargrafen, and Arlene Kaefring; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Urban Hargrafen, Cletus Hargrafen, Father John Hargrafen, Vincent Hargrafen, Sister Mary Hargrafen, and Edna McCormick; and granddaughter, Michelle L. Davin.
Alma was born December 11, 1921, in Silver Springs, Iowa, the daughter of August and Anna (Handfelt) Hargrafen. She graduated from Delhi High School and married Earl Clement Davin on October 20, 1947. Earl passed away in December, 1993. Alma was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She enjoyed time spent with her friends at the Witwer Senior Center, being with her family and traveling.
A memorial fund has been established in Alma’s memory.
