Alice G. White

Alice G. White, 88, formerly of Oneida and Manchester, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, Iowa, following a brief illness.
Services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Greeley, Iowa, with Pastor Jim Roth officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester and one hour before the service Saturday morning at the church. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester.
Alice was born July 21, 1914 near Greeley, Iowa, the daughter of William & Emma (Moehlenkamp) Goldsworthy. Alice attended school in the Oneida and Greeley schools. While growing up she worked as a domestic for area neighbors. On June 23, 1943 Alice was united in marriage to Clyde L. White in Manchester. The couple moved to Oneida where Alice enjoyed being a homemaker as well as helping her parents at the Oneida Hotel. Clyde passed away October 20, 1982. Alice moved to Manchester in 1999 then to Edgewood in August of 2002.
Alice was a member of the United Methodist Church in Greeley and enjoyed being a member of the Ruth Circle. She enjoyed gardening and canning and cooking her harvest. She also liked to sew. She made many of her own dresses and clothing for her family. Alice was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Alice is survived by her daughter and her husband, Ida Marie & Elmer Lanken of Webster City, Iowa; two grandsons, Joseph Lanken and his wife Julie of Kamrar, Iowa and Jason Lanken of Webster City; and three great-grandchildren, Jory, Jaric and Joseph Jr. Lanken of Kamrar.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. White; her parents, William & Emma Goldsworthy; her sister and her husband, Laura & Wayne Graybill; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Eva & Fred Briggmen.
