Alice E. Turner
June 29, 1916 — April 1, 2003
Alice E. Turner, 86, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, formerly of Marion, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the care center, following a long illness. Memorial Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Mike Kleeberger. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Jordan?s Grove Cemetery, rural Central City, Iowa.
Survivors include her brothers, Merle Bliss of Cedar Rapids and Donald Bliss of Marion; and her sister, Blanche Betenbender of Coggon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Duane, Albert and Harold.
Alice was born June 29, 1916, the daughter of Chester G. and Julia A. (Danford) Bliss in rural Central City. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and Graduate School at Coe College. On October 20, 1946 she married James Turner. He died in 1977. Alice taught for many years in Linn County, the last 20 years of her career in Central City.
