Alice Mae Smith, 66, formerly of Delhi died Thursday, May 6 at the Hospice House in Hiawatha, IA.
Funeral services for Alice will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 9, 2010 and one hour before services at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Delhi.
Alice was born August 19, 1943 in Manchester, the daughter of Floyd and Dorothy (Peters) Edmonds. Alice attended Delhi High School, graduating in 1962. Following graduation, she worked as a meat wrapper at several stores; Eagles, Econofoods, and Von’s. Alice also worked for HyVee in the kitchen where she took care of the dining room and greeted customers.
Alice was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing computer games, but most of all visiting her friends and family and spoiling her grandchildren.
Alice is survived by one son, Terry (Donna) Smith of Belle Plaine; three grandchildren, Sonny, Jessica, and T.J. Smith; siblings, Shirley (Lew) Goranson of Greeley, Norma (Jerry) George of Aztec, NM, Doris Lei of Manchester and Kenneth (Joyce) Edmonds of Manchester; one sister-in-law, Joan Edmonds; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Norma, Barb, Galena, Lisa, and Que
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Dorothy Edmonds; a brother, Harold Edmonds; and a brother-in-law, Art Lei.
