Alice Fitzpatrick
April 24, 1946 — August 18, 2021
Alice Fitzpatrick, 75, of Marion, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration of life will take place at a later date; as well as burial at Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton, Iowa. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, assisted the family.
Alice was born April 24, 1946, in San Francisco, California, the daughter of Algy and Clara “Josephine” (Goodwin) Long. She married James Fitzpatrick in Iowa City, Iowa on December 29, 1967. James passed away in 2012. Alice worked at Meth-Wick as an oral medical technician and K-Mart before the couple eventually moved to Missouri. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and going to the casino. Alice was considered a mom to many people who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Christine Bontrager and Lori (Trent) Avis, all of Cedar Rapids, and Sarah (Shannon) Gorman of Swisher; grandchildren, Zachary, Brooke (Coleman), Tanner (Shelby), Brooklyn, Faith, Haley, and Lexi; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Janet Reddick of North Carolina, Debi (Floyd) Aswegan of Oregon, Chuck (Linda) Long, Linda Wilson, Mike (Patricia) Fink, and Anthony (Ruby) Berger all of Iowa; brother-in-law, Gary Fortner of Iowa; numerous half brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Mr. Kitty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Algy and Clara “Josephine”; and siblings, Betty Matheson, Tom Long, and Sherrie Fortner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
