Alice Addie Cira, 101, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Funeral Mass: 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Marion. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Alice is survived by five children, Mike (Laura) Cira, Marion, Janet (Earl) Crutchley, St. Louis, MO, Joseph (Diana) Cira and Joanne (Steve) Carfrae, all of Cedar Rapids, and Louis Cira, Mason City; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; a grandson, James Crutchley; her five brothers, Rueben, Gerald, Almon, Lawrence, and Orville; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Cira.
Alice was born October 8, 1912, in Edgewood, Iowa, to Fred and Ida (Walters) Fensterman. She graduated from Oneida High School in 1930 and married Joseph Cira on June 30, 1937. She enjoyed baking, reading, and word puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous in Alice’s memory.
