Alice L. “Aunt Alice” Campbell, 99, of 621 Tiffany Drive N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Hiawatha Care Center, Hiawatha. Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Fred Darbonne. The family will greet friends from 10 until service time at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her niece, Joanne (Sylvester) Hinz of Cedar Rapids, Shirley Reints of Center Point, Lorri (Kerry) Floyd of Garrison and Mary Alice Wallace of Sedro–Woolley, Washington; and five generations of nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; brother, Kenneth Bott; sister, Lena Jennings; and niece, Margaret Dauenhauer.
Born August 8, 1912, in Backus, Minnesota, Alice was the daughter of George M. and Sarah (Eldred) Bott. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School in 1930. On January 17, 1931, she was united in marriage to Richard Campbell at the First Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. For 29 years she worked for Collins Radio, retiring in 1969.
Alice was a member of the First Christian Church and the Air Stream Trailer Club. She enjoyed camping for many years and wintering in Mission, Texas until 2008. Other joys were reading and playing cards and bingo.
