Alfreda K. "Freddie" Pederson

Alfreda K. (Freddie) Pederson, 83, of 208 35th St. Dr. SE, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, at First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Casey Cain. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, George of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, June Boss and Doris Werning, both of Cedar Rapids and Lucile (Robert) Pratt of Coggon; a brother, Richard (Lila) Boss of Nevada, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Doreen Boss of Kanata, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Marvin Boss.
Freddie was born May 3, 1923, the daughter of Alfred and Helen (Linder) Boss in Monticello. She graduated from Monticello High School and N.W. Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis. On June 9, 1951, she married George L. Pederson in Marion. Freddie retired from St. Luke?s Hospital where she worked for twenty years as a supervisor at the blood bank.
Freddie was a member of First Congregational Church and Priscilla Circle in Cedar Rapids, PEO - Chapter JI, the Nature Center Guild and was an Honorary Life Member of Indian Creek Nature Center.
Freddie enjoyed taking trips around the country looking at lighthouses and courthouses with her husband. She enjoyed gardening, especially hostas, and all the special friends she met throughout her life.
She will be remembered as a nurturing, caring, courageous and always positive person.
Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church, Cedar Rapids, the Indian Creek Nature Center or to the Friends of Linn County Child Development Center in memory of Freddie.
