Alfred I. Henderson, 87, of 1306 19th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday May 2, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2004, at Eden United Church of Christ by Rev. Glenn Hunt. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Francis and wife Barb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Keith and wife Phyllis of Prairie DuChien, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Julie and husband Mark of Independence, Todd and wife Laura of Cedar Rapids, Mark and wife Colleen of Kansas City, Kansas, Kelly of Springhill, Florida, Brian of St. Petersburg, Florida and Aaron and wife Angie of Praire DuChien, Wisconsin; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bernard and a sister, Marion.
Al was born in December 22, 1916, in Osgood, Iowa, the son of George and Neva (Jayne) Henderson. He was united in marriage to Beatrice Bachman of Aurora, Iowa, on October 6, 1940. Al worked for Link-Belt Speeder-FMC from 1941 until his retirement in 1979, starting as a painter, assembler and final inspector. He loved hunting, fishing and ice fishing and enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his family. He was a loving husband and father and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
