Alfred C. Davis, 94, a resident of the Anamosa Care Center, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. in the Garden of Memories in Waterloo, with the Rev. Linda Livingston officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his daughter, Zepha (Don) Turner of Springville; a brother, LaVerene Davis of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Thomas and Todd Turner, Tracey Kirby and Trisha Thenhaus; and five great-grandchildren, Megan and Morgan Thenhaus, Jordon and Nathan Turner and T.J. Kirby.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae; a son, Russell Davis; an infant daughter, Kathleen Davis; and a brother, Melvin Davis.
Alfred was born January 21, 1909, the son of Ralph and Edna Olmstead Davis in Webster City, Iowa. On January 3, 1931, he was united in marriage to Mae Elizabeth Hannan. She died May 1, 1990. He was a policeman for ten years in Waterloo. He later managed several apartment buildings in the Waterloo area. Al and Mae then moved to Marion in 1987 to be closer to family.
