Alex Strait

Alex Miller Strait, 23, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007, following a long struggle with depression. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2007, at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Kolander and Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Elizabeth (Ryan) Hoagland of Cedar Rapids; and special friend, Lindsey Sirowy of Iowa City.
Alex was born February 14, 1984, the son of Terry and Marlyse (Miller) Strait, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a graduate of Washington High School, Cornell College and was attending graduate school at the University of Iowa. Alex was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
Alex will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and passion for learning. He will be missed by all those who met him, as well as the pets he cared for.
