Albert Ray Roberts, 62, of Marion, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Memorial Service: 2:00 pm Friday June 19, 2015, at the First Church of the Open Bible located at 1911 E. Avenue NW Cedar Rapids, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at a later date at Neola Cemetery in Neola, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Marion.
Survivors include his daughters, Amanda Dickerson of Urbana, Anna Verner of Marion, and Theresa (DuWayne) Gail of Cedar Rapids; his siblings, Elizabeth (Ken) Card of Clarinda, Mary (Craig) Young of Shambaugh, Wayne (Linda) Roberts of Logan, Joe (Gayle) Roberts Minden, and Leo (Vicky) Roberts of Oakland; and six grandchildren, Alicya, A.J., and Jesse Verner, Jericho Dickerson, and Hayden and Allison Gail.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marilyn in infancy.
Albert was born July 27, 1952, the son of John Roberts, and Anna (Wellman) Roberts in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended Tri Center High School in Neola, Iowa and graduated in 1971. Albert served with the US Army from 1972-1975 in Vietnam. He worked at Ralston Foods for 38 years. He enjoyed spending time with his friend Tink, going fishing and to the races. He enjoyed his dogs Barney and Brutis. He was a very humble person and truly enjoyed helping people.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
