Albert Frank Pospishil, 96, a resident of the Anamosa Care Center, formerly of Martelle, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa, following a lengthy illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Theresa Walton. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside Committal Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, at Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are many nieces and nephews, including: a niece, Mary Godar and husband John of Marion; and a nephew, Terry Pospishil and wife Vivian of Ocala, Florida.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Ed Pospishil; and a sister, Mayme Pospishil.
Albert was born April 16, 1906, in Western, Iowa, the son of Ralph and Mary (Novotny) Pospishil. He graduated from Martelle High School. Albert was a farmer and substitute mail carrier. Albert loved history and enjoyed traveling. He was fortunate to have traveled to most of the Civil War battle sites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Martelle Library and Fire Department in Albert?s memory.
