Albert Thomas Joyce, 83, of Marion, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Heritage Acres Care Center, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at the funeral home in Marion, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Martha Sue; children, Peggy Sue Tempfer of Leitchfield, KY, Lovona Lee Bazal of Vining, IA, Rockie Alan Joyce of Cedar Rapids, Marilyn Marlene Tiegen of Marion, and Randy Alan Joyce of Marion; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Virgil Joyce of Benton, KY, Judy White of Gilbertsville, KY, Susie Knight of Gilbertsville, KY, and Lonnie Hawkins of MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Nolan Joyce.
Albert was born April 17, 1929 in Colorado Springs, CO, the son of Roscoe and Mabel (Futrel) Joyce. He married Martha Sue Higgins on August 5, 1948 in Hopkinsville, KY. Albert loved to travel and drive. He was a tinkerer and enjoyed restoring and painting numerous things. Albert was interested in family history and genealogy, and liked to write books and take photos. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
