Albert 'Gene' Eugene Powell

Albert Eugene “Gene” Powell, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, October 16, 2020. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment will take place at a later date Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Gene was born on December 26, 1950, in Mt. Home, Arkansas, the son of Cecil and Myrtle (Gerstenburger) Powell. He served in the United States Army from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War. Gene was united in marriage to Janet Fleck on July 17, 1976, in Cedar Rapids. He worked as an auto parts specialist at Zimmerman Ford for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Lucille Powell of Cedar Rapids; and sons, Joseph (Erin) Powell of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Jeffrey (Katherine) Powell of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Myrtle Powell.
