Albert “Bud” Hale, 87, of Manchester, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Good Neighbor Home following a lengthy illness.

Memorial Services for Albert will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester by Rev. Roger Henry. Family will greet friends Friday, January 16 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bud was born June 27, 1921 in Manchester, the son of Glen and Althea (Jordison) Hale. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1939. On August 8, 1947, Bud was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Luck at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Bud served for the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. Following discharge, he worked as an iron worker for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. In his spare time, he painted homes.

Bud was a member of the Manchester American Legion, Post #45. He enjoyed gardening and playing pool.

Bud is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hale; seven children, Joleen (Tom) Wilhelm and Dave Hale of Manchester, Janette (Ken) Reiger of East Moline, IL, Janeen Weber and Julie (Mark) Nicholas both of Glendale, AZ, Gary Hale of Phoenix, AZ, and Doug (Rachel) Hale of Surprise, AZ; sixteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Gene of California.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Althea Hale; and one sister, Laverne Coulter.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to the Garden View unit at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
