Alan J. Nurre, 62, of Delhi, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at St. John's Catholic Church in Delhi. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, January 22, 2021 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Delhi, where an additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass. A private committal service will take place at a later date. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville is assisting the family.
Alan was born February 09, 1958, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Robert and Ruth (Benn) Nurre. He grew up on the family dairy farm. On May 07, 1983, Alan married Bonnie Marie Werner. Together they farmed near Delhi and were blessed with 6 children. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Delhi. He enjoyed farming with his John Deere tractors, watching wildlife in the field, playing cards and his best buddy, Cooper his dog. Alan especially loved spending time with family and always looked forward to the Nurre Annual Apple juicing in October.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Bonnie, and six children, Jason Nurre of Delaware, Jeff Nurre of Delhi, Jennifer (Jordan) Tagtow of Waterloo, Jeremy (Allison) Nurre of Earlville, Jordan (Carly) Nurre of Tucson, AZ, and Justine (Jordan) Helle of Delhi; 3 granddaughters, Lily, Addilyn, Ava, and expecting another grandchild in April; six siblings, Richard (Mary) Nurre, of Marion, Paul Nurre of Arizona, Margaret (Bob) Picray of Monticello, Michael Nurre of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Steve) Kelchen of Anamosa, Susan (Jim) Hartzler of Byron, Minnesota; aunts and uncles, Tom (Mary Ellyn) Nurre of Cedar Rapids, Louie (Ruth) Benn of Manchester, and George (Linda) Benn of Dubuque; mother-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Werner of Manchester; and many brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Nurre and father in-law, James Joseph Werner (Manchester).
