Agnes Melsha Tosh, 96 of Evergreen Estates III, formerly of 1527 N St SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died there Wednesday, October 31, 2007, from complications of aging. Services 9:30 a.m., Friday November 2, 2007, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Nils Hernandez. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a scripture service at 6 p.m. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son Robert (Judie) Tosh; and grandchildren Scott Chacey, Beth (Tom) Chacey DeBoom, Doug (Eileen) Tosh of Cedar Rapids and Mike (Marilyn) Tosh of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by six great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and a special neighbor, Rose Oakley
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Chacey; brothers, Louis, Wencil, Robert, Alvin “Jack” and John Melsha; and sisters, Bessie Koutnik and Emma Cesek.
Agnes was born September 21, 1911, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Vaclav and Bessie (Klima) Melsha. On May 14, 1938, she married Robert J. Tosh, Sr ,. Before marriage she was employed at Quaker Oats.
Agnes was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Chada Pautz Fellowship, the Czech Heritage Foundation and the National Czech and Slovak Museum. Agnes was a meticulous homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She loved to socialize and make new friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Estates III and Mercy Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to Aggie.
