Agnes C. Kintzle, 88, of Manchester, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 in her home following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manchester by Rev. Nick March. Family will greet friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Agnes was born January 18, 1920 in Holy Cross, the daughter of William P. & Ruth (Webber) Meyer. She lived there until age 12 when she moved to Worthington. Agnes attended school in Holy Cross and Worthington. On October 5, 1939, Agnes was united in marriage to Irvin J. Kintzle in Worthington. The couple farmed in the Monticello area 12 years before moving to Earlville in 1953. Together they farmed 53 years, retiring to Manchester in 1982. Irvin died in 1992.
Agnes’ first love was her family. She loved every moment she had with her children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved hearing them laugh and sharing their life journeys. Agnes was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Regional Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and St. Mary’s Study Club. She enjoyed living next to St. Mary’s school where her great love for children was well-known as a dedicated volunteer. Agnes enjoyed gardening, playing cards and was a member of several card clubs.
Agnes is survived by ten children, Al (Ronda) Kintzle of Arlington Heights, IL, Jerry Kintzle (Betty Heid) of Denver, CO, Jean (John) Kennedy of Kansas City, KS, Dale Kintzle and Dave Kintzle of Manchester, Jan Burback of Cedar Rapids, Rick (Anita) Kintzle of Cleveland, OH, Ruth Ann (Mike) Finnell, Kathy (Mark) Harris and Mark Kintzle (Jackie Newton) all of Earlville; a brother-in-law, Carl Kintzle of Cedar Rapids; 17 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Meyer; her step-father, Phil Winter; her husband, Irvin J. Kintzle; a son, Michael Kintzle in 1984; a granddaughter, Cindy Kintzle; sisters Mary Reynolds and Bernice Brunkan; and a brother, Gerald Meyer.
Agnes’ family would like to extend a special thank-you to the Amenity Hospice team for their wonderful care, especially Cindy. Her last months were made to be especially meaningful because of you.
