Agnes P. Bliss, 87, a resident of Cottage Grove Place, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, December 30, 2007, following a long illness. Funeral Services: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Julie Anderson-Schuett. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Keller of Norwalk and Jane Spellerberg (Richard) of Cedar Rapids; stepson, David Darsee (Vionne) of West Des Moines; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and three of her eight siblings, Harley and Homer Clark and Doris Sealls. Other survivors include nieces and nephews and their extended families and the Bliss family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and a grandchild, Michael Spellerberg.

Agnes was born May 4, 1920, the daughter of Bert and Frances Austa Clark in Martelle. She was married to Gerald Darsee and they farmed at Martelle. Seventeen years after Mr. Darsee’s death, she married Chester Merle Bliss. They made their home in Marion.

Agnes was a farmer’s wife and after the death of her husband, Gerald, she worked many years in housekeeping at Mercy Hospital.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion where she played in the kitchen band and helped entertain in nursing homes. She also volunteered at the church thrift store.

Agnes will be remembered by her great love felt by her family, her hard work, love of cooking and fondness of music and dancing. She will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Marion, 802 12th St., Marion, Iowa, 52302, in Agnes’ memory.
