Adolph "Art? Weber, 80, of 3507 E Avenue NW, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, August 16, 2003, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following complications of a stroke. Services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at the First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Larry Hayward. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military rites.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pauline; a son, Darwin (Brenda) Weber of Cedar Rapids; five daughters, Linda (Jon) Walsh of Bloomington, Illinois, Bette Weber, Marlene Weber, Patricia (Mark) Knutsen, all of Marion, and Charmaine Gerdis of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Herbert Weber of Bettendorf; and a sister, Naomi "Babe? Guenther of Dundee.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Michelle and Jennifer Walsh, Krista (Ryan) Coddington, Jeremy and Justin Lee, Joshua and James Ciha, Stacey, Aaron and Megan Weber; four stepgrandchildren, Marissa DePue, Jennifer, Jillian and Jessica Knutsen; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Walsh.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bonita; and a grandson, Shane.
Art was born October 6, 1922, the son of Adolph and Dorothy Walters Weber, in Wadena, Iowa. A graduate of Upper Iowa College in Fayette, he served with the United States Army under General Patton during World War II. On March 14, 1949, Art was united in marriage to Pauline Norton in Grundy Center, Iowa. For 25 years, he worked as an industrial engineer for Rath Packing, retiring in 1975. Art then became an agent for Met Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Past State Commander of Iowa VFW, Past Commander of Waterloo VFW Post 1623, a member of the Cedar Rapids VFW Post 788, and State Americanism Chairman for 20 years.
Military rites will be provided by the VFW Post 788.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Art.
