Adelthia F. “Fern” Dooley, 86, formerly of Delhi, Iowa, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the Regional Medical Center, Manchester, after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, December 18, 2009, at the Delhi United Methodist Church, Delhi, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 17th at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, Iowa, and for an hour before services on Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Delhi.
Fern was born on December 6, 1923, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of David [middle name?] & Charlotte [middle name?] (Todd??) Engle. She attended school in St. Louis. In 1946, Fern married Leo Fabing in St. Louis. The couple moved to Cahokia, Illinois, and were later divorced. Fern then married to Ed Dooley in June of 1967 in {town???.} In the late 1970’s, the couple moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where Fern worked at K-Mart. Ed died in April of 1977. Fern moved soon thereafter to Delhi, Iowa.
Fern was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was past-president of the Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and embroidering work and doing cross word puzzles.
Fern is survived by her six children, Raymond (Angela) Fabing of Ste. Genevieve, MO, Tony Fabing of Troy, MO, Edward Fabing of Delhi, IA, Terri (Drew) Watkins of Watauga, TX, Sean (Kathi) Dooley of San Antonio, TX, and Cheryl (Jerry) Hollrah of Delhi, IA; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi Viessel of Hot Springs, AK.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, David & Charlotte Engle and her two husbands, Leo Fabing and Ed Dooley.
