Adeline “Addie” Jeannette Monahan, 69, of 1794 Mary Drive, Marion, died Friday, November 02, 2007 after a long illness surrounded by her loving family at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Graveside Services: 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery (Garden of Eternal Love) in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Nancy Monahan.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Bob; her children, Bret Monahan of Cedar Rapids, Joel (Melissa) Monahan of Alma, Nebraska, Dawn Feuchtwanger of Marion, John Robert “Bob” Monahan II of Marion, Maureen (John) Corcoran of Cedar Rapids, and Colleen (Shane) Burns of Cedar Rapids; her extended family of children including Gloria Monahan and Dale Monahan, both of Porterville, California, Becky Chiafos of Watkins, Bob Stehno and Terry Cook, both of Cedar Rapids, and Kelly Geise of Mason City; 23 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ricky (Sandy) Hoss and a sister-in-law, Cindy Hoss, both of Estherville.
Addie was born on April 11, 1938 in Lakefield, Minnesota to Francis John and Alice Irene (Alexander) Hoss. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1957 and married John “Jack” Willman in 1958. They later divorced. On March 25, 1967, Addie married John Robert “Bob” Monahan at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Addie worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring in 1993 after 22 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dennis Hoss.
Addie enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping, traveling, family get togethers, her grandchildren and loved her dog, Elle. She will be missed by all who loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in Addie’s memory.
