Ada was born October 27, 1921, the daughter of Clem and Alma (Moon) Adcock, in Des Moines, Iowa. On February 23, 1941, she was united in marriage to L. W. "Tad? Gretten in Chariton, Iowa. He died March 8, 1992. Ada was branch manager for Lamson Brothers Brokerage Office and later worked for Merchants Bank, retiring in 1985. A longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, she was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Throughout her life she was a caregiver for family and friends who were ill and in need. She was a Sunday School teacher for 42 years and spent many years ministering to others in nursing homes and sharing her faith with everyone she met. Ada gave of herself to others, not for personal gain or glory, but as God?s faithful servant. Her life was a sermon to others, of faith, compassion, love and courage. Ada taught us how to live and she taught us how to die. She will be missed by her family and her many friends.
