Aaron William Greif, 21, of Central City, died Friday, January 4, 2013, from injuries sustained in an accident near Coggon. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Central City. A vigil service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church, with visitation to follow from 4-8 p.m. Burial: Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Coggon. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Kendra Greif of Central City; two sisters, Sarah and Rachel Greif; maternal grandparents, Bob and Mary Pflughaupt of Central City; paternal grandmother, Lois Greif of Coggon; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; four dogs, Duke, Shelby, Sam, and Dakota; a cat, Katie; and his horse, Cocoa.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fay Greif; cousin, Marcy McNamara; uncle, Russell Etten; and his favorite horse, Harley.
Aaron was born November 23, 1991, the son of Gary and Kendra (Pflughaupt) Greif in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Central City High School in 2010 and was currently a junior at Iowa State University majoring in business economics.
Aaron loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting, camping, canoeing, horseback riding, snowmobiling, and summer vacations. He also enjoyed technology and gaming, and spending time with family and friends. Aaron was a member of the ISU Baja SAE Team and the Broken Bit Saddle Club of Central City.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Aaron’s memory.
