Gene A. Falcon, 82, of Springville, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Marion by Pastor Jon C. Moss. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. A private family graveside service will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Falcon; three children, Larry (Cherry) Falcon of Tustin, California, Julie (Alan) Pederson of Altoona, and Kathleen (Bruce) Vos of Pella; five grandchildren, Matthew Falcon, Adam Pederson, Jonathan (Lisa) Pederson, Calvin Vos, and Carter Vos; and a brother, Dr. Walter (Laura) Falcon of Stanford, California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gene was born August 5, 1930, the son of Norman and Esther (Hurwitz) Falcon in Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Springville High School in 1948. On June 25, 1950, he married Betty Ketelsen in Anamosa. Gene farmed for 35 years and was a realtor for 22 ½ years. He was a senior member of the Farm Department at Iowa Realty.
Gene was a member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, Linn County Township Trustee, Central City Fire Department, was past President of the Linn County Fair Board and previously served on the Springville School Board for seven years.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Gene’s memory.
