Shirley A. Sproston, beloved mother and grandmother, 72, of ManorCare Health Services, entered Heaven Saturday, March 10, 2007, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a prolonged illness. Private Graveside Services: Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Linwood Cemetery Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Marti Montovani. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tueday, March 13, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her children, Theresa Mason of Bloomington, Indiana, Brent (Suzan) David of Memphis, Tennessee and Paul (Gerilyn) David of Ogden, Iowa; eight grandchildren; A.J. Mason, Todd Mason, Grant Mason, Sharon Vanbrunt, Brian David, Heather David, Austin David and Colton David; a great-grandchild, Alexander Vanbrunt; and two sisters, Betty (George) Miller of Tipton and Patricia Kehoe of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Richard and Donald; and a sister, Bonnie.

Shirley was born February 15, 1935, the daughter of Albert and Delilah (Thompson) Fannon, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On December 21, 1979, she married James Sproston, who died March 1, 2006. Shirley worked for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union in Cedar Rapids. As a young adult, she was a snare drummer in the Moose Lodge Drum and Bugle Corp and Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corp. She was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian Church.
