Rose M. Taylor, 85, of Manchester, Iowa, formerly from Central City, Iowa, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2020, at the Good Neighbor Home. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2020, at the Lower Spring Grove Cemetery of rural Coggon, by the Rev. Richard Marsceau. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Central City is assisting the family.
Rose was born May 31, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Forrest and Mary Lockhart Primrose. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and went on to obtain her Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.
On October 28, 1953, Rose Primrose married Derald Taylor in Cedar Rapids; three children were born into this marriage. She was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital and various nursing homes. She loved her work helping people who were in need of assistance to remain independent, whether they were in their own home or in assisted living. Rose loved spending time with her family; you could often find her listening to country music or working on word puzzles. She was a very giving person and was always willing to pitch in and help whoever was in need. Rose loved to sing and had a beautiful voice; she will be missed by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her children, Brenda Taylor of Central City, Calvin Taylor of Central City, Glenda (Chris) Holub of Guttenberg; grandchildren, Tracy Taylor Strope of Central City, Spencer Horak of Central City, Vanessa (Randy) Huffman of Maquoketa, Nathan Vanis (Michelle Linden) of Malcom, Iowa, Kyle (Alejandra Narez) Vanis of Salinas California, Johanna Short of Iowa City; great-grandchildren, Taylor Strope and Cole Shepers of Central City, Jessica Short of Iowa City, Vincent Vanis of Central City, and Ryder of Monticello, Iowa; brother Gene Primrose of Cedar Rapids; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Derald; sister Georgina Coy; sisters-in-law, Bernita Stock, Jennie Rissler and Elaine Taylor; brother-in-law Jerry Taylor and half- sister Dorine Lee.
