Robert A. Tucker
November 21, 1926 — December 12, 2006
Robert A. Tucker, 80, of 1728 34th Street N.E, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 12, 2006, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, of pancreatic/liver cancer. Memorial Services Monday, December 18th, 11 a.m., Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home. Father Nils Hernandez will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; son, Daniel L. Tucker of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Colleen T. Tucker and husband Gordon F. Shaffer of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Catherine T. Tucker and Sarah M. "Maggie? Tucker; a brother, James L. Tucker and wife, Judy of Marion, Iowa. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Annabelle Farnsworth Tucker and a daughter, Cynthia Tucker Shaffer.
Robert was born November 21, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Edmund and Annabelle Farnsworth Tucker. He was educated at Garfield Elementary School and Franklin High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. On June 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Rita Shima. A lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, he was employed for many years at Fruehauf Trailer Company and later at Quality Auto and First Avenue Plymouth, retiring at age 58. Robert was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, and the Museum Guild of the NCSML
Bob was his family?s "Rock? and our strength. He lived his life selflessly giving all that he loved and had to his family. Marilyn, Danny, Cindy and Colleen always came first. He will be so missed.
