Reginald L. Eberle, 80, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Iowa City VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Family will greet friends and family from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with military honors provided by the Marion American Legion Post #298. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville, Iowa.
Reginald was born on November 25, 1942, in Mechanicsville, Iowa, the son of Reginald and Myrtle (Ellison) Eberle. He attended Marion High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Navy on the USS Bausell during the Vietnam War, from 1959 to 1963. On September 24, 1962, Reginald was united in marriage to Veronica M. Rawson in Chula Vista, California. He worked as a truck driver for most of his life and retired from GSTC. Reginald was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298. He loved going on trips to the casino and cruises with Veronica. Reginald will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Reginald is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Veronica Eberle of Marion; two children, Dennis (Beth) Eberle of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Jeff Eberle of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley Ragsdale) Eberle of Davenport, Iowa, David Eberle of New York, Samantha Eberle of Denver, Colorado, Allysa Eberle of Cedar Rapids, and Kolton Eberle of Fort Dodge; six great-grandchildren; sister, JoAnn (Dean) Bleadorn of Marion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Reginald Eberle, when he was six weeks old; mother and stepfather, Myrtle and Jack Ozburn; and sister, Sylvia Ozburn.
