Raymond “Ray” Leroy Elliott, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City. Services: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Dr. Leonard Ranson. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He will be cremated. Burial will be in Webster City at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; children & step-children, Melody Vance, Vonna Baker, Marsha (Kevin) Hills, Kim (Robert) Agricola, Kerri (Jeff) Matucha, and Kevin (Jackie) Oujiri; ten grandchildren, Alyssa, Brandon, Chantelle, Heather, Heather, Kendall, Kristin, LeCole, Samantha and Trevor; two great-grandchildren, Brandy and Gavin; a sister, Barb (Blackie) Hennigar; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester and Harold; and a sister, Helen.
Raymond was born July 29, 1935, the son of Tony and Edith (Bass) Elliott in Webster City. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956, during the Korean Conflict. Raymond was an ironworker, retiring in 1998 through Local 89. He was a member of VFW No. 788.
Raymond loved horses, woodworking, fishing, casinos, and playing with special little friend, Katie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
