Ralph “Keith” Bumgarner, 79, of Central City, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the Anamosa Care Center, Anamosa. Visitation: 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Zion Presbyterian Church, Coggon, additional visitation one hour prior at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Keith was born February 19, 1939, in Olin, Iowa, the son of Frank and Ruby Bumgarner. He graduated from Dunkerton High School. On August 4, 1959, Keith married Betty Jean Seidel in Haven, Iowa. He was a dairy farmer for over 30 years in Tama and Coggon. Keith drove a grain truck for 20 years. He loved horses, riding in a lot of horse shows and training them for a good many years. He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon. Keith enjoyed westerns and reading, especially books by Louis L’amour.
Keith is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Bumgarner of Central City; sons, Jerry (Teresa) Bumgarner of Solon, and Terry Bumgarner of Coggon; daughter, Peggy (Ray) Hugaert of Clarence; twelve grandchildren, Desi, Austin, Jenelle, Gina, Sarah, Dustin, Allison, Chad, Cody, Caleb, Ila, Keith; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Dixie (George) Jones, Dyna Kay, Rocky (Barb) Bumgarner, and Darrin (Hope) Bumgarner.
He was preceded by his parents, Frank and Ruby Bumgarner; father and mother-in-law, Emil and Gertrude Seidel; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Bumgarner; granddaughter, Cindy Moore; and brothers, Jim Bumgarner and Bill Bumgarner.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Keith’s name.
