Paul Frederick Perez, 87, of Viola, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial with full military honors by Offut Airforce Base Honor Guard will follow at Norwich Cemetery in Martelle, Fairview Township.
Paul was born on March 2, 1936, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Augustine and Josephine (Costello) Perez. After graduating from Mckinley High School in Cedar Rapids, Paul served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. On December 30, 1986, Paul was united in marriage to Christine Marie Roberg in Galena, Illinois. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 40 years, until his retirement in 1995. Paul will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 36 years, Christine of Viola; children, Vicki (Tim) Reed of Maplewood, Minnesota, Cynthia Shaw of Maplewood, Minnesota, Teresa Roark of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Casey Perez of Viola; former wife, Delores; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Perez, and Augustine (Carol) Perez all of Cedar Rapids; and sister-in-law, Cecilia Perez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lorenzo, and Victor Perez; one sister, Mary Zinniger; one granddaughter, Elizabeth; and sister-in-law, Lenora Perez.
Memorials in Paul’s memory may be directed to Camp Courageous or a charity of the Donors’ choice.
