Merlin “Dick” Pohlman, 75, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at his home. Family will greet friends and family from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home with the Reverend Kurt Pasko officiating. Burial will take place with Military Honors at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Dick was born on February 13, 1947, in Manchester Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Leona (Downs) Pohlman. He graduated from Alliance High School in Nebraska and enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Dick and Cindy (Wendling) Hamlett started dating in 1989 and were together ever since. They married on January 10, 2004, in Manchester. He worked construction and in factories most of his working career. Dick enjoyed playing cards, word searches, working in his garden, hiking, going on scenic drives, watching westerns and game shows and was a Golden Gloves Boxer. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and playing with his pets, Daisy and Ricco. Dick will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Pohlman of Manchester; children, DeeDee Clark, Rick (Macala) Pohlman, Kenny (Amy) Pohlman, Kurt Pohlman, Nichole (Joe) Axline, Stacy (Neil) Manternach, Adam (Jaci) Hamlett; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, brother Randy Pohlman; mother-in-law, Marlene Wendling and many other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Leona Pohlman; brother, Wes Pohlman; and his granddaughter and nephew.
