Mary Ann Armstrong, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully Friday, March 20, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Randy Kasch and Pastor Trish Decker. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2015, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. An additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include her husband, Edwin Armstrong; children, Mike (Celeta) Rahn, Lynette Macie and Terry (Wendy) Armstrong; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (George) Steckle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, one sister; and niece, Kelley Dystra.
Mary Ann was born on May 15, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, daughter of Elwood “Joe” and Mary Ann (Chariper) Paul. In the late 80’s she worked and sold Avon products. On August 12, 1972, she married Edwin Armstrong in Preston, Minnesota. Mary Ann and Ed loved to square dance together and enjoyed attending the Cedar Rapids Kernel’s baseball games, she also loved to garden.
