Mae Rose (McCusker) Noonan, 89, a resident of Hallmar Residential Care in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Coggon, died Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City by Father Wayne Droessler. Family will greet friends from 2-7 p.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, where a Vigil Service will begin at 5 p.m. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, IA, following the funeral luncheon.

Survivors include her children, Rose Noonan (David Wetzel) of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Deb) Noonan of Monticello, Pat (Richard) Lundstrom of Perry, Betty (Paul) Kohout of Lisbon, Tom Noonan of Urbandale, and Ray (Angie) Noonan of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Mae Rose was born June 12, 1922, in rural Ryan, Iowa, the daughter of Henry J. and Bridget L. (Crilley) McCusker. At the age of 20 months, her father died from the effects of WWI, and she was raised primarily by her mother. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1939. On February 5, 1947, Mae Rose was united in marriage to Norbert J. Noonan at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Castle Grove, Iowa. Norbert died June 29, 1983. Mae Rose was a homemaker, farm wife, and mother. She was a member of the North Linn Parish Cluster (St. Stephen’s, Central City) and the American Legion Auxiliary #362 of Coggon.
