Linda Sanders

Linda (Smith-Heskje) Sanders, 72, of Colorado, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. until service time, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Linda is survived by her husband, Tom of Strasburg, Colorado; children, Kim (Gary) Whiting of Center Point, Jim Heskje of Marion, Eric (Josie) Heskje of Hiawatha, Ryan (Margie) Heskje of Marion, Damon Sanders of Colorado; 12 grandchildren, Adam (Meghan), Drew (Jenna), Brianna, Jonah, Lydia, Levi, Zachary, Emily, Christian, Micaiah, Ashlyn, and Cayden; and 1 great-granddaughter, Madeline Lacey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Agnes (Hootman) Smith.
Linda was born February 19, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the only child of Thomas and Agnes (Hootman) Smith. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962 and attended Kirkwood Community College to study as a medical assistant. Linda also attended cosmetology school. She married Thomas Grant Sanders, Sr. on April 10, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Linda was a homemaker who loved her family very much. She enjoyed quilting, bowling, riding motorcycles, and traveling as well as cheering for the Denver Broncos.
