Kimberly K. (Kramer) Krapfl, 39, of Earlville, Iowa, died at home Saturday, May 29, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Mass for Kimberly will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2010 by Rev. Herbert Tegeler at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville. Family will greet friends from 1 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Earlville where there will be an 8:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional visitation after 9:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home, Wednesday. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Earlville.
Kimberly Kay was born January 30, 1971 in Dubuque, the daughter of Ronald Kramer and Ellen (Deutmeyer) Smith. Graduating from Western Dubuque High School in Epworth in 1989, she attended Hamilton Business College in Cedar Rapids, obtaining her Administrative Assistant Degree in 1991. Kim worked at Kann Manufacturing, Guttenburg, Ertl Toy Corp, Dyersville. In 1995, Kim started at the Medical Associates in Dubuque as an insurance specialist. On April 5, 1997, Kim was united in marriage to Alan Francis Krapfl at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Epworth. The couple settled in Earlville.
Kim was member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earlville, St. Joseph’s Parish Church Council, participated in Relay for Life and enjoyed playing the piano. Kim was one of the most positive, inspiring people put on this earth. She touched everyone she knew in a most positive way. Kim encouraged everyone to go that “extra mile”. She felt so good when she could help other people.
In her married life, Kim always put her husband and children above all else; she was so proud of her family. How precious was their relationship with each other. Some of the things that were the greatest times in love were attending Clint’s ballgames and karate tournaments; going to Avery’s dance recitals, as well as watching and listening to Brett play his trumpet. Brett made her so proud of the nice young man he became and the fact that he desired to attend college.
Kim loved warm, sunshiny days and watching her flowers grow; she loved good friends and small things in life. She was truly one of God’s special flowers. Kim lived with cancer for three years, yet she never allowed herself to let it get her down. She remained strong in mind and spirit. INFINITE, LOVE, AND GRATITUDE.
Kim is survived by her husband, Al of Earlville; her children, Brett of Dubuque, Clint and Avery at home; her parents, Ron J. (Joan) Kramer of Epworth and Ellen (Jerry) Smith of Farley; one sister, Robyn (Aron) McDermott of Epworth; a brother, Shannon Kramer of Epworth; parents-in-law, Gene and Betty Krapfl of Earlville; four sisters-in-law, Kay (Gary) Demmer of Farley, Janet (Mike) Orcutt of Earville, Julie (Shannon) Lahr of Earlville, and Mary (Dr. Brad) Gamble of Dallas, TX; three brothers-in-law, Tom (Donna) Krapfl of Delhi, Pat (Kathy) Krapfl of Earlville, and Jim (Deanna) Krapfl of Earlville; two step-brothers, Jeff (Roxanne) Simon of Farley and Chad (Charlotte) Smith of Monticello; four step-sisters, Stacy (Mark) Tomas of Portland, OR, Michelle Maiers of Minneapolis, MN, Julie (Chuck) Gile of Manchester and Emily (Brandon) Nitcher of Solon, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Kim was preceded in death by twin sons, Alex and Andrew Krapfl in 2002.
In lieu of flowers, funds may be directed to a memorial to be established in Kim’s honor.
