Kenneth I. Jacobs, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at his home. Services: Friday, November 15, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Calvary Baptist Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Jay Jentink. Visitation will be Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa. Arrangements provided by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; children, Todd (Christa) Jacobs of Newburgh, Indiana, Tim (Amanda) Jacobs of Marion, Iowa, and Teresa (Ryan) Hanna of Martelle, Iowa; grandchildren, Hannah, Benjamin, Malia, Jordan, Jared, Caden, Sadie, Levi and Kenzie; and siblings, Dixie Meeks of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Robert (Sharon) Jacobs of Ladora, Iowa, and Dr. Orville (Ruth) Jacobs of Altoona, Iowa.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda O’Dell.
Born October 11, 1943, in Marengo, Iowa, Ken was the son of Lawrence and Violet (Barnett) Jacobs. On August 18, 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma Morris in Walker, Iowa. He worked at Evergreen Packaging for over 30 years.
Ken was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and he also served on the board of Spring Valley Bible Camp.
Ken enjoyed camping and traveling but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and attending his grandchildren’s events.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church where a memorial fund has been established in Ken’s memory.
