Kenneth “Ken” Dwayne Dede, 57, of Marion, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 2, 2018, in Indianapolis, Indiana. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion conducted by Reverend Thom Darden. A Celebration of Ken’s life will follow, beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, at The Thomas Park Safe Room at 343 Marion Boulevard in Marion. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Ken was born March 13, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Donald and Janice (Schmidt) Dede. He graduated from Marion High School in 1979 and was united in marriage to Mary “Renee” O’Rourke on August 31, 1986, in Evergreen, Colorado. Ken has been a self-employed carpenter. He loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family and especially his dog. Ken will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Renee Dede of Marion; father, Donald (Patricia) Dede of Manchester; brother, Darwin (Tracy) Dede of Marion; mother-in-law, Doris (Dallas) Brozik of Huntington, West Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Ann (Danny) Smith of Green Castle, Pennsylvania, and Kerri O’Rourke-Robinson of Fort Mill, South Carolina; his beloved and loyal companion dog, “Carl”; and seven nieces and nephews, Shannon (Jeff) Boyer, Shelby Smith, Corey Robinson, Spencer Dede, Skylar Dede, Molly Robinson, and Kylie Fink.
Ken was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother, Janice Dede; and father-in-law, John O’Rourke.
