Kathryn C. Kinley, 96, of Ryan, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Hiawatha Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Manchester with a 4:00 p.m. Rosary Service and a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Additional Visitation: one hour before services Saturday at the church in Ryan. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa.
Kathryn Cecelia Kinley, daughter of Frank and Catherine (Cashman) Kinley, was born Feb.19, 1916 in Coggon, Iowa. She attended Coggon Public school through elementary and high school, graduating in 1934. Following graduation, she attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. Kathryn taught school for forty one years; thirteen in a rural school in Adam's Township and twenty-eight in Ryan. While teaching, she was a member of the N.E.A, ISEA, and WDEA.
Kathryn was a devout member of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Ryan. She taught CCD for five years and did secretarial work for Father Weydert while he was pastor at St. Patrick's.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parent's; two sisters, Nellie Duggan and Genevieve Simmons; and a brother Patrick.
Kathryn is survived by a niece and husband, Donna & Jim Carew of Iowa City, and a nephew and his family, Pat & Terry Simmons, Katie & Jenny of St. Paul, MN.
