Jody Dean McShane, 51, of Waubeek, Iowa, formerly of Sulphur, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jody’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the F.B. & Company located at 4185 Whittier Road in Waubeek, Iowa, where live music will begin at 5:00 p.m.
Jody was born on February 5, 1971, in Cedar Rapids, the son of David Nelson and Nancy Louise (Dean) McShane. He was a 1989 graduate of Central City High School. For more than 25 years, Jody worked as an Assistant Starter at Churchill Downs, working the Kentucky Derby. He was a fun-loving guy. Jody was a jokester and enjoyed telling jokes. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jody is survived and lovingly remembered by his two children, Sean Fett of Central City and Cassidy McShane of Louisville, Kentucky; four siblings, David (Carmen) McShane of Maxwell, Iowa, Wade (Tara) McShane of Earlville, Iowa, Megan (Jeff) Bonert of Colesburg, Iowa, and Dusty (Stacy) McShane of Center Point, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jody’s memory may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
