Jean M. Hite, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, July 1, 2011, at Colonial Manor of Amana. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oxford Cemetery.
Survivors include a nephew, Bill Keegan and wife Carole of Williamsburg; a grand-niece, Sherry Keegan Bayeur and husband Brian and son Brendan of Ankeny; two step-daughters, Robin Bolas and husband Ralph of Littleton, Colorado and Sandra Hite of Westfield, Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2007; two sisters, Doris Keegan in 2007 and Frances Blood in 2008.
Jean was born May 9, 1923, in Johnson County, near Oxford, the daughter of Frank & Matilda (Wagner) Klenk. She attended Oxford schools and Iowa State Teachers College. She served with the WAVES for two years during WWII. Jean was united in marriage to Merlyn E. (Gene) Hite in 1963. Jean retired from National Farmers Union Crop Insurance Co. after 33 years of employment. She attended Hus Memorial Church in Cedar Rapids.
