James Joseph Conway, 87, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 12-1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church. Burial: St. John’s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his daughter, Marsha (Robert) Williams of Watertown, Tennessee; son, Rodney (Linda) Tweedt of Anthony, New Mexico; five grandchildren, John Tweedt and Suzette Russell, both of Sunland Park, New Mexico, Anessa (Bill) Poole of Lebanon, Tennessee, Jeromy (Jen) Lowry Garland, and Robert (Tina) Lowry, all of Garland, Texas; nine great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and brother, Donald (Vera) Conway of Cedar Rapids
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Betty in 2001.
James was born on August 23, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Robert and Tillie (Sharmek) Conway. He graduated from Wilson High School. On March 2, 1977, James married Betty Jean Hamilton, she died in 2001. He worked for Kings Material as a truck driver. James enjoyed camping and the couple’s trips to the beaches in Florida.
