Jack M. Hoglan, 76, of Independence, formerly of Center Point, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by Rev. John Caughron. The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eva Jane; his children, Aileen (Kirk) Stofer of Mesa, Arizona, Cheryl Holub of Center Point, Carol (Gary) Gibbs of West Union, and Jon (Dawn) Hoglan of Independence; six grandchildren, Lisa (Shane) Kula, Alexander Gibbs, Matthew Gibbs, Lucas Gibbs, Caitlyn Hoglan and Garret Hoglan; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Tony Holub.
Jack was born October 27, 1932, the son of Glenn and Paulina (Martin) Hoglan, in Center Point, Iowa. He served with the United States Army. On March 5, 1953, Jack was united in marriage to Eva Jane Wiegand at Camp Gordon, Georgia. For 30 years, he co-owned and operated Geater Machining and Manufacturing. Since 1993, his family has owned and operated Sheet Metal Automation.
